taffyness

I've been waiting for this to come around for a while now. I must say, it was worth the wait. Right from the start, everything sounds perfect. The mix is spot on, all over. The voice at the begining fore shadows the watery intro. The pads are chilly and fine. The intro could almost be an ambient submission by itself. When the beat breaks in with the sub bass, everything begins to size up a bit. It's mentaly arousing.

The rhythm gets crazier and we get treated to some jazzy melodies. Excelent break down, and the hardcore comes in. Sounds like hot sass. I swear, this is a treat.

There's absolutly nothing wrong with this track in my opinion. It's fucking awesome. Good luck in the mac, though you really don't need it in my opinion. If I was a judge, you'd be my first bet, followed by corn and AC. That is, if their submissions count as new. (Even if their tracks are extensions or remixes, I think their tracks are too good to go by with a degraded score, but thats just my opinion.) RAWR!

Rig responds:

Cnb never got his stuff in on time, so I'm good in that regard. Thanks for the review and the vote of confidence - I'll need it :D

WEEE

Oh yessss. I love that piano. I have a question regarding that. Do you sample, record, or build your piano melodies. They always sound really good. Too good ;)

There's that classic rhythm build. Ohhhh, nice hi hat rhythm. Fancy taffy. Ar, I was wondering where megaman came in, and here it is! 1:48. Right there. lol.

This is really good stuff. It has a slightly different vibe then most your other tracks, but theres still rawrthaas in there. Rock on man!

Rawrthaas responds:

I build the piano melodies. I use a VST called Edirol Orchestra for the piano itself.

kitty porn!

arrr! The melodies here were really tight. I liked that windy sounding pad. It held the back nicely and created some pretty solid atmospere. The bass was tight. I think you could have crechendoed the strings in a little better. The rhythm was a little too distorted and scratchy for me, you might have been better off using something a little less fuzzy.

The drums came in out of nowhere. I could have used a slight build in. Maybe a nice little hi hat rhythm a measure or two before the entrance with a drum fill would have sexed it up a bit. The synth that came in a little later also kind of came in out of nowhere, though the melody itself was allright. Actualy, the way it harmonizes/contrasts with the other melody was ace. I'd tap that melody ;)

The fade out was called for, but I think it could have dechrechendoed a bit longer. Over all, I really liked it. There wasn't alot wrong here. It was all just small stuff. Really ace track man. Good luck with the comp!

SysRq00 responds:

Really? I was debating about how long I should have let that decrescendo go for at the end. Something to think about in the future.

I see what you're saying about the drums, that probably would sound really cool. And the strings were only re included at the last minute, I couldn't make up my mind about whether or not I wanted them there. Probably could have crescendoed em in there to make it sound nicer. Good points.

Thanks so much for the review! =D

rawr.

The fade out didn't come out right. If it was intentional, it was really weak, but I'm not going to take off any points for it, because it just sounded really accidental. Other than that there's absolutely nothing wrong with this track. It rocks in every other aspect. Really fucking ace man. No extended review from me today. That's all your gonna get. I'm going straight to work on a lullaby track for the DAC tonight. Rock on man!

RAWR!

It all sounded pretty cool, like something out of AOE. right off the bat though I could tell you that this submission's perussion could use some chrechendos. It's all at the same velocity or about the same range anyways. Any variences are too subtle to really notice. Try making the percussion more dynamic. The rhythms are cool though. Especialy the bongo/congas or whatever they might be.

The melodies in the back are sweet and cool. I love that instrument that sounds like it's sliding up and down. Sass taffy right there. The track loops perfectly. I didn't catch any clips or chops. Those keys near the end sounded beautiful, though they could have been equalized more up front so I could hear it better. It played a backseat where it could have commanded.

Overall this is a really good track. Really pretty sassy and subtly taffy. Keep jamming ;)

Suspended-3rd-Chord responds:

hey thanks man :D

as with all my tracks, i could use more dynamics(not hat I didnt use any tho, just too subtle like you said)...it just gets tedious ya know. and yes those are congas, timbales, and tablas used in the percusion here. glad you liked the melodies.

anyways, thanks a lot, I'll take your advice into consideration for the next track I make :)

*wink

You did a really good job here. Everything accented pretty well. The melodies were pretty sassy. The rhythm didn't really impress me but that's only because I'm a douche when it comes to rhythm. I've been drumming for a long time so I enjoy hearing drums that make me think. Though the hi-hat rhythms were all right, but overall the beat was pretty straight forward. Ar!

It's pretty late right now where I am, so I'm having trouble thinking up things to say. I want to hear this tomorrow when I'm not so tired. Till then, you get a 4 a download and a metaphorical high five.

SysRq00 responds:

Yeah, with the drums I figured I wanted to stay simple. My brother (also a drummer) thought it could have used some toms. I think I agree with him now that I've listened to it myself a few times. But thanks for reviewing/downloading/4ing/hi-fiving! XD

RAWR!!!

All right, another Rawrthaaaaassssss track. Sweat deal.

It all sounds good, no real complaints about anything, though the track does sound a little low. You should bring everything up next time, though it was easy enough to raise the volume on my speakers. With that minor problem aside, there really isn't anything negative about this. Nice sounds coming through...pianos, strings, flute. All mixed really well. The drums sounded pretty chill. Arrrr, good sounds man. I tried voting you up, seems like you've suffered some undecent voting treatment man. ARRRR.

Rawrthaas responds:

HEY you're online!

did you still wanna collab?

rockn

Hmmm, quite the sex you got going on here. Intro was really nice. Melodies, sub bass, excellent. Really really cool intro man. Really cool. Traditional beat...but I think it could have used a stronger snare. The lead synth sounds a little weak too. Hmm. Ar. There was a piano in there that I really liked. I think you could have brought that forward a bit. It was too quite to really enjoy.

Overall, this song rocks. It's really nice and really peaceful. I tip my hat at you sir.

maximusmonk responds:

Yeah, I agree with you about making some parts stronger. I guess I just don't put much thought into the fine-tuning, particularly since I'm not exactly working with state-of-the-art equipment. It's hard to get the sound you're looking for when your only instrument is Fruity Loops, and when your speakers are only slightly better than the crap that is packaged with your computer.

Rawr!

Such a great remix. You really captured the essence of the original track while maintaining a new sound. I love Squarepushers work, and I love it when people try to get his sound. My only complaint is that this is way too short. I understand how much work went into producing it but honestly, this could have stood to be a little longer. AR. Keep up the good work man.

snoballandthmonyshot responds:

longer, no ways, it was getting to be real pain in the arse... go and listen to the original, it's way better:/

I asked my cat about our current geo-political situations. She was speechless.
