YAY! DRUNK REVIEW!

You're lucky. I don't normaly review shit when i'm drunk. But i'll make an exception. I remember hearing the rough version of this track a hell of a while ago. I thought it was pretty solid back then. To be perfectly honest, I kind of liked the older version better. It might be because of familiarity, but it's honestly really hard to tell the deference between the two without listening to the old track.

If there's something this track is missing, It might be a heavy bass line. That sub is really tight melodicly, but it just doesn't varry alot. It's always there and it never really stands out. It just kind of sits in the back. The piano melodies are good, but for the most part, they sound excatly as they did in the original version.

The effected rhythms are fun. They're out of the norm, but as far as electronica will take them, thy're not too complex. The melody rhythms were also really predictable. Despite knowing the orignal track, I still felt like I could tell waht was going to happen next. Also, that fade out could have lasted a bit longer. What I do, is, I like to fade out at a less perdictable time. Lets say, mid bar. I think it sounds a bit better that way.

The mix was awesome. Everything came in great. The piano, sounded great. The vox was perfect. The drums were great. There was so much to like about this track. The only thing I hold against it is that I've heard it before. I know you were planning a full version since you're preview thing, but I really felt like all I got was an extended version with nothing new. I'm sorry if that comes off wrong. I loved that track. It deserves a sick score, but I feel as if the preview acomplished more than the final version hoped to sew up.

Oh. I'm sorry if this review sucked. I'm fucking waist ed. I'd pray that you hit me back up with at least a waisted review. I tried so hard to keep it comprehendible ;D

WEEE

Oh yessss. I love that piano. I have a question regarding that. Do you sample, record, or build your piano melodies. They always sound really good. Too good ;)

There's that classic rhythm build. Ohhhh, nice hi hat rhythm. Fancy taffy. Ar, I was wondering where megaman came in, and here it is! 1:48. Right there. lol.

This is really good stuff. It has a slightly different vibe then most your other tracks, but theres still rawrthaas in there. Rock on man!

Rawrthaas responds:

I build the piano melodies. I use a VST called Edirol Orchestra for the piano itself.

kitty porn!

arrr! The melodies here were really tight. I liked that windy sounding pad. It held the back nicely and created some pretty solid atmospere. The bass was tight. I think you could have crechendoed the strings in a little better. The rhythm was a little too distorted and scratchy for me, you might have been better off using something a little less fuzzy.

The drums came in out of nowhere. I could have used a slight build in. Maybe a nice little hi hat rhythm a measure or two before the entrance with a drum fill would have sexed it up a bit. The synth that came in a little later also kind of came in out of nowhere, though the melody itself was allright. Actualy, the way it harmonizes/contrasts with the other melody was ace. I'd tap that melody ;)

The fade out was called for, but I think it could have dechrechendoed a bit longer. Over all, I really liked it. There wasn't alot wrong here. It was all just small stuff. Really ace track man. Good luck with the comp!

SysRq00 responds:

Really? I was debating about how long I should have let that decrescendo go for at the end. Something to think about in the future.

I see what you're saying about the drums, that probably would sound really cool. And the strings were only re included at the last minute, I couldn't make up my mind about whether or not I wanted them there. Probably could have crescendoed em in there to make it sound nicer. Good points.

Thanks so much for the review! =D

If you're attempting dnb, the first thing i'd recomend is avoiding a four to the floor. Unless you're working a build up. You're missing a snare rhythm. The samples were good, but they were thrown about pretty liberaly.

There are some good elements going on here, but I really think the majority of the bad here was simply the drums. You might be able to salvage this and turn it into an ok dnb with a better rhythm, and a more prominent bass line. One more thing that kind of got to me was how repetitive the track was.

The voice recordings/samples were nice, and the mix came through pretty clear. Because the song was pretty much the same all the way through, it looped predictably perfectly.

I'm sure that if you gave it a second try you'd probably improve a lot. Good luck with the comp!

roar!!

That was some really cool stuff. I loved the way the clicky rhythm panned from left to right. That tickeld my brain. The morphing melodies were a good touch. The bassier rhythm was really tight. Arrr! Really euphoric in a way. Ar! The attack near the end was really spot on. Sassy molassy. There's really nothing I feel I can tell you that might help. I think you made a really tight track. Good luck with the comp!

Hmmm.

Hmmm, I heard some string sounds towards the begining. Was that stuff digital, sampled, or original? Whatever it was, it sounded really cool. Though I'm not sure if that distorted drum set accented the guitar sounds very well. Actually, most of my gripes with this track just deal with the distortion. Whenever I leave a review for a track, I make sure to listen to it twice. Once with my head phones, and once with my lap top speakers. Just to make sure it all comes through all right, and this did come through, but regardless of what I used to listen to this track, the bass always ended up sounding choppy and muddy.

I was hoping you'd take your time with your comp song seeing as how you seem to pump out tracks really quick. Regardless, you usually seem to pump out really ace tracks. Though I really think you could have benefited by holding off and working on some stuff. Like some of it sounded a little too distorted. Again, I'll use the effected bass as an example. The subby bass was tight though.

I still like the track, it's just I think it could have used some fine tuning. Keep rocking and good luck with the comp. Oh, and when I submit my dnb track down the road, you can be a gritty as you want with the review...actually, I'm being really hopeful. You don't really even have to review it if you don't want :P

The fade out didn't come out right. If it was intentional, it was really weak, but I'm not going to take off any points for it, because it just sounded really accidental. Other than that there's absolutely nothing wrong with this track. It rocks in every other aspect. Really fucking ace man. No extended review from me today. That's all your gonna get. I'm going straight to work on a lullaby track for the DAC tonight. Rock on man!

RAWR!

It all sounded pretty cool, like something out of AOE. right off the bat though I could tell you that this submission's perussion could use some chrechendos. It's all at the same velocity or about the same range anyways. Any variences are too subtle to really notice. Try making the percussion more dynamic. The rhythms are cool though. Especialy the bongo/congas or whatever they might be.

The melodies in the back are sweet and cool. I love that instrument that sounds like it's sliding up and down. Sass taffy right there. The track loops perfectly. I didn't catch any clips or chops. Those keys near the end sounded beautiful, though they could have been equalized more up front so I could hear it better. It played a backseat where it could have commanded.

Overall this is a really good track. Really pretty sassy and subtly taffy. Keep jamming ;)

Suspended-3rd-Chord responds:

hey thanks man :D

as with all my tracks, i could use more dynamics(not hat I didnt use any tho, just too subtle like you said)...it just gets tedious ya know. and yes those are congas, timbales, and tablas used in the percusion here. glad you liked the melodies.

anyways, thanks a lot, I'll take your advice into consideration for the next track I make :)

sass taff

Fancy track going. It has all the dnb elements but there's something really unique about this one. I don't think it's the bongos though they definatly help out. Bongos sound sick in dnb when done right. I love tuning into a sick track and getting a nice ear full of samba. rawr. The bass was pretty cool, the siren thing was ace and the track looped perfectly. AR!!! sassy taffy.

Yeeesssssss.

This was so damn cool man. Sounds coming in from every direction with some pretty scary clarity. The bass holding the rhythm was awesome, and the ambience of the sounds really created a dark and gritty atmosphere. Whatever melodies that were in there were really well disguised. Almost glitchy sounds. This track is really damn cool man. I have no negative feedback to throw at this. It's so cool. Keep rocking man.

Note to self: this probably isn't the best place to leave messages to yourself. Also, don't forget to pick up milk and bread.
