NICE

I really need to look into your work more. This loop is so sexy. GUHHHHHH. If there's only one thing I'd tell you to work on, it's that drum kit. It's pretty good through my headphones, but I think it could be a little deeper in contrast to the synths. Try changing up the velocities of the hits to get the dynamics really pumping. There's nothing I like better out of a four to the floor track than an organic pulse.

Also, those pads could be a little more prominent. I didn't even notice them until I thought to try listening for them.

Regardless of what you end up doing to this track, it sounds awesome all ready. It really makes me wish I could do the genre justice. Good work sir, and good luck with the collab.

Jebbal responds:

Yay! But there's not too much more of my work on here to look into. Most of my other stuff is either intentionally stupid or just not that good. I did put a lot of effort into this one tho.

You're right about the kick. It sounds pretty decent until everything cuts out at :20. You can really notice it there. I'm going to mess around with the drums a bit more, don't worry!

As for the pads, I was actually aiming for it to be barely noticeable during the main part of the song. Just meant to add a bit of depth, but I'll definitely play around with them and see if its better for them to PLAY THE FUHDUCK OUT. LOUDER LOUDER LOUDER!

All in all, this is a pretty good review. I'D give it ten out of ten, but lets see what the critics say:

Thanks for the review!

yummeh!

dammmn. I responded in my review that I couldn't wait to hear what you had cooking. I should have check the comp thread before saying that because it seems like you allready had something cooked and fuck is it delicious. I could eat this track all day.

sorohanro responds:

He he ... just seen (for the 3-rd time) "Sweeny Todd" ... eating is quite an issue after seeing the movie :))
thanx for review and "push up" my track with a good review and vote

lol.

Rig responds:

No, cowbell!

You have such quirky dnb vibes. That melody at the beginning reminded me of some sort of chip tune, flying into those strings... good melodies... your drum choices always confuse me. I'm not sure where you get your ideas for what constitutes a good drum kit, but I love the fact that you always experiment with it. Always a surprise.

Fun reese line. I'm not sure what I'd change, but it seems like it's lacking something... that main line just seems a little weak... catchy, but it's missing something... maybe a little more depth of some sort... I don't know... it's so hard to tell...

Nice rhythmic change up. It really adds quite a bit of sass to the mix. It's subtle, but it works really well. Those fills rock hard too. What program are you using sir? You switched from fl to reason around a year and a half ago right?

PERVOK responds:

Hmm... I think I switched under a year ago. Thanks for the review, man!

My cock is back in action.

And it's bigger than it was before we started the collab. You always make really interesting compositional choices. Sometimes your tracks make me quirk my head and ask myself "wha?" Seriously, I love it. Where do your ideas come from? Can I buy them? Platonically of course.

Rig responds:

They come from the sweet release of everything but drugs and alcohol.

yeah!

Hell yeah man. This is sounding like it's really coming along. That intro was fucking ace. That reese around 35 sounds like it needs a little bit of tweaking though. Maybe try turning the semi all the way up (I'm not sure but I think that's essentially the same as raising the notation up an octave... which might make it sound like crap. Who knows!)

Try backing the reese up with a sub bass that works with the same melody. You can also try experimenting with some more hi hat tricks. One thing I like to do is have one hi hat with some delay on it and one without. You can make some really fun rhythms that way. It's a hell of a lot less stress then going in and changing the velocity of each note.

Oh yeah, also try filtering/ automating that reese. You can get some really crazy sounds by changing the properties of the synth in real time. I know this is a work in progress, and what you have right now sounds awesome. Just try tweaking some things and you'll have gold.

WritersBlock responds:

Awesome. Thanks for the tips, Quarl. I'll probably finish the track off, then run an iron over it, so to speak, and add those touch ups that you mentioned.

hmmm...

pshhh. I just gave you a five and your score still went down. Seriously. Check out this image to see what I'm talking about.

I'm telling you. This song is destined to fail :(

Casualty responds:

Pff, that always happens when you are the second person to vote 5 on something that's rated 5 already.

But thanks for your vote and review!

The loop rocks. If you think you'll have to change anything, keep an eye open in the forum. Trogdar will let you know if you need to change anything there.

Nice kit. Amen?

alextheDJ responds:

Thanks!!! Yes, it is indeed Amen. cool I'll keep checkin the forum. \m/
I don't know why this got zero bombed, but whatever :P

Never listened to this account. I had no idea you could do drum and bass. Pretty sick mix too. The intro has a really nice atmosphere about it. AR. Liking those bells/ alarms. There's something wrong at 31. I feel like it was something on the drum kit being panned. Soem of the panning is awesome, but there's just that one sound, it comes in later too... meh, opinions. Aside from that one drum, I actually really loved them. The reese is pretty cool. All over the map, just like a reese should be.

Great job sir. Good luck in the mac, and yes. His name is hank.

S3C responds:

yea, I've been trying to make DnB since mid may :)

Good luck to you in the competition to and thanks for the review Quarl!

fuck yeah!

fecking amazing sir, great reeses, nice solid drum work. I'm gealous of your dnbz :P

Funky.
