For real, I do like this place. The idea of going incognito is unfortunate but a possible necessity for some people in an ever changing world...
Unfortunately, without deleting anything, there's no option to ignore awful things and awful people but to just shield your eyes. But occasionally I wish there WAS that option. Glad to hear it's potentially in the works.
It's honestly becoming a safety issue in my country, ICE is just indiscriminately arresting anyone they want including politicians. I want to be invisible right now.

@TomFulp i can understand the complication of deactivating stuff. but maybe there should be like a block filter thing like bluesky does, so words can be filtered out. i think its easier but idk

Also you watch LastWeekTonight to feel better? Awesome. I love the show and the light it sheds on serious issues in the world and in American society. Though if you're in the right mindset it can only make things more depressing.
At this point I have hardly any real "faith" in the human race or life itself either. It all just seems like we're competing for nothing here yknow? I think we as living beings and as humans as a whole ought to be a bit less self-important. Realize that we all are from nothing and will end up as such. That might sound a bit grim, yes, but I think that should make us realize that life really can be nice if we make it that way instead of getting involved in useless battles over resources. Even though we are one species, on one planet, in one solar system, in one galaxy, in one universe.
@Quarl i think you should also download unhook for your devices. its a good youtube add on that also blocks reccomendations and other parts of youtube. depending on your browser it could work rlly well
But how will I watch all my Maroon 5 music videos if unhook is blocking parts of YouTube? I thought YouTube was 99% Maroon 5 music videos, you mean there's more to YouTube than Maroon 5, what D:<

You actually suggested an interesting compromise; we currently don't have an option to deactivate an account because it would require adding a "hidden" state to every project, every forum post, review, blog post, playlist, etc. and filtering accordingly. The ability to just turn off a profile page while retaining the content is a lot more doable, so I think we should take a stab at that.
