Funny you write about this, I just found a way to reopen old tracks from fruityloops nehandertal edition, files that were left on old harddrives and currently working on making them future proof and ableton friendly.
A lot of work for such shitty tracks but idk, its like looking at an old photo album, the whole experience is kinda soothing :D
Easier said than done but the only "advice" i 'd like to give you: "Try" to not feel guilty about feeling depressed or even happy. That one is a sneaky bastard.
I dig these pictures :)

Most everyone could stand to back up their data, content creator or not. I recently had to factory reset my phone due to a phonebreaking glitch in MIUI, and even though I didn't have too much data on my phone, I was still pissed after losing all the data on it.
There's a bit of a paradox with backups: for the average person, you never really think twice when they're there, most often they're there for your peace of mind rather than a necessity. If/when you lose your data, you're going to resent not taking a backup, but if you DID take one, odds are you might find that they weren't really all that necessary anyways. That is, it's there, it's available for you to use but you can always go back to the data anytime in the future. You don't really NEED it as much as you thought.
Except for the odd file here or there, and there's always going to be those cases...in which case you better hope the backups were working! Which leads me to the next point: make sure the backups actually work! Nothing worse than thinking there's a backup of everything, only to later find out the backups themselves have failed.
(There's an allegory in there, I leave it as an exercise for the reader to find.)
We could all benefit from learning philosophy. If there's one thing everyone knows, it's the search for the meaning of life, and that's a topic that has been well trodden in the past. It's far easier said than done, though, and I attribute that in part to the neglect towards the liberal arts over the past how many years. I plan to read Le Petit Prince sometime in the future, although god knows when I'll get around to it, considering that the last time I actually had the werewithal to read a book was probably 3 years or so ago. (There's a lot to unpack in that last sentence, but that's for another time.)

I always have an old external HD with back ups somewhere, I'm a data hoarder. Though I could always start from scratch there is something rewarding about opening up really old files and smelling the nostalgia. I've had a lot of fun with remixing and repurposing old rsn files this year :'D
I just realized I have really old dnb collab files with Fox Stevenson. Those would be hella funny to play with right now...
Thank you for commenting Gimmick. Your thoughts on philosophy, arts, and books are refreshing. There is so much to be gained in self reflection but at a certain point it can get unhealthy. There is some "spiritual" balance that people need to find, if you want to call it that. I can respect aspects of meditation, choirs, community. I've started calling Newgrounds a religion. I've considered praying once a day in the general direction of the Glenside office and I know I can find the right peer pressure if I post that thought in the general forums...
