Misguided people attack participation trophies. I think back on all the youth trophies I got and the time I sold them all to some kid at a yard sale. Was worth it just to see that kid smile while also reinforcing the fact that capitalism devalues us all.

I *may have* started on a cracked copy of FL Studio 15 years ago (it's really been that long huh) but Gol never or atleast at some point never cared. I'm not justifying piracy either but it's been financially beneficial for them. I purchased it along with other music SW once I acquired the currency doing grownup things, and I know several people who have purchased FL upon spreading the gospel to them. Would have moved onto other pursuits maybe if I was limited to tinkering with the demo. And that aside I'm still billed monthly for some SW subscription services despite doing minimal production over the last 2.5 years.

Sounds like a sh*tty reason to disallow minors for entering- prize situation would easily be mitigated by awarding the 4th place or whatever contestant?

Lol, those of us that worked on cracked software know the struggle. I can't legally advocate it... but google won't care if you search up how.

Honestly, the tourney organizers put a lot of thought into what sounded like an excuse. Didn't even sound like there was unanimous agreement among the tourney organizers that the rule was necessary. Somebody felt passionate about the rule, and now that they're facing criticism from it it's somehow our fault for not noticing it sooner. Whoops. Fuck the kids I guess.
